The Road to Sochi 2014 for the British Snowboarders

There’s less than a week remaining for Britain’s snowboarding hopefuls to stake their claim for a place at Sochi 2014 with the qualifying period ending on January 19.

And, with the ending of the qualifying period, comes a succession of last chances with World Cup events taking place in Stoneham and Rogla.

Stoneham in Canada plays host to halfpipe and slopestyle – as well as the non-Olympic big air event – while in Rogla in Slovenia is parallel giant slalom.

The Swiss resort of Veysonnaz was due to host a snowboardcross World Cup but there has been a lack of snow to build a decent course, which has led to its postponement.

However the World Cup action doesn’t stop there with the parallel giant slalom athletes competing once before Sochi in Sudelfeld in Germany on February 1.
