Muirhead holds nerve to edge past determined Czech Republic

Eve Muirhead held her nerve as her Scottish rink remained unbeaten at the European Curling Championships in Stavanger.

After a commanding victory over Denmark, the world champion survived a late comeback by Czech Republic skip Anna Kubeskova and alongside Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Claire Hamilton secured a 10-9 win - her fifth straight victory.

"They were chasing us pretty hard but that happens whenever you get an early lead," said Muirhead, a silver medallist 12 months ago.

"We gave some cheap twos away but we did enough to win and managed to convert when we had the hammer."

Muirhead's rink take on Italy and Sweden on Tuesday, Norway on Wednesday and clash with Switzerland - the only other unbeaten team - in their ninth and final round robin game on Thursday.
