Lauren Price and Pat McCormack capped a fantastic week for British Boxing as they both secured gold medals at the European Olympic Boxing qualifiers in Paris.
Having secured 11 spots on the plane to the Tokyo Olympic Games across a highly successful week, the GB team then triumphed in two of the seven finals they took part in on the final day of the competition.
World number one Price continued her sensational preparation for the Games with gold in the women’s middleweight final.
She claimed a unanimous points win over Russia’s Zenfira Magomedalieva with a classy performance which will give the World and European Games champion the world of confidence ahead of her tilt at Olympic glory this summer.
Meanwhile, it was a very happy 26th birthday for fellow European Games champion McCormack as he claimed welterweight gold.
In a measure of revenge for the defeat suffered in the 2019 World Championship final, the 26-year-old Brit bested Russian Andrei Zamkovoi on points in a thrilling contest which saw McCormack deliver a flurry of sensational shots right before the final bell.
Elsewhere, there were also silvers for Charley Davison, Caroline Dubois, Frazer Clarke, Galal Yafai and Ben Whittaker.
Comeback queen Davison fell to a split decision defeat in the women’s flyweight final to Turkish top seed Buse Naz Cakiroglu.
Dubois secured her first major senior medal as she was also beaten via split decision, in the women’s lightweight final to Ireland’s Kellie Harrington.
And Clarke suffered a split decision loss in the men's super-heavyweight final to home favourite Mourad Aliev.
Yafai, who secured his Tokyo place over a year ago, was unfortunate to be disqualified in his flyweight final with Frenchman Billal Bennama following a clash of heads while Whittaker was withdrawn from his light-heavyweight decider.
