Morrison hails best performance at Milano Cortina 2026

Rebecca Morrison hailed Team GB’s best performance of the curling round-robin to date as they rose to the occasion to see off Denmark.

On a pivotal day in the women’s event, they beat Madeleine Dupont’s rink 7-2 to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

They are back in action again this evening against Switzerland, who sit fourth in the 10-team standings.

The Scottish quartet of Morrison, Sophie Jackson, Sophie Sinclair and Jen Dodds all insisted they needed two wins after a slow start.

They lost three of their first four matches but showed plenty of character against the previously 3-2 Danes.

Morrison did not hold back and an aggressive opening end was rewarded with an early 2-0 advantage, which they then maintained to lead 3-2 at the break.

Another fine two-point score in the sixth end and a steal in the seventh, opened up a four-point gap with three ends to play, and they eventually shook hands with an end to spare.

"It is absolutely fantastic. Last night hurt a bit, we felt were so close with a number of shots and they [Sweden] punished us hard,” she said.

“We just used that today, used the hurt from last night and brought our best today.”

The win moves Team GB’s record to 2-3 and they are eighth in the table.

If they win their remaining four matches, they have an excellent chance of reaching the medal matches, while three wins could also be enough.

“It is not just the win, it is playing so well out there. We needed that because tonight is massive against Switzerland,” Morrison added.

“I think we can all feel really confident from what we brought out there and take it into the following games."
