Team GB’s Milano Cortina 2026 continued on the second Saturday of action, with action across Milan, Livigno and Cortina.
Skeleton sliders seal top 10 finishes
Tabby Stoecker, Freya Tarbit, and Amelia Coltman all sealed top 10 finishes in the women’s skeleton. Stoecker led the way in fifth, with Tarbit seventh and Coltman ninth – all on their Olympic debuts.
"I just feel so proud of myself,” said Stoecker. “The Olympics is at the end of this four year cycle where we've been preparing and working really hard with the team and so to get to the Olympics in the first place is such an honour.
“Then to compete and to just do my very best, I'm just feeling really, really proud of myself, the team, of the girls and of the boys yesterday.”
Treacy reaches short track final
Niall Treacy came agonisingly close to a famous short track speed skating medal as he reached the final of the men’s 1500m.
Treacy powered through both his quarter-final and semi-final to reach the showpiece and looked in contention for a medal before an unfortunate crash with six laps to go.
He was ultimately penalised for the collision and finished ninth.
He said: “It is not the result you want when you get to the final. I was skating really well.
“I have only seen the review quickly. I didn’t see the guy, I felt like still trying to build speed.
“I had two of the best guys in front of me so I was trying to setup to cut to go back past them. I felt like I was in a really good position. I felt really strong.
“It’s not the result but I think if you told me at the start of the day that I would be in an Olympic A final, I maybe wouldn’t have believed you. I am really proud of what I did today.”
Muir qualifies for big air final
Kirsty Muir booked her place in Monday’s women’s freestyle skiing big air final with a comprehensive performance in qualifying.
Muir opened up with a huge 87.50 before following that up with 79.00, which was more than enough to progress as the fourth-highest qualifier.
“I had a really good evening of skiing, felt great in practice, stoked to put my runs down in qualis and excited for the finals,” she said.
"We're all just going to try and put our best tricks out there. I am excited for that. All the girls competing are amazing and I am just stoked to be competing in a final with them.”
Team Morrison take down world champions
Team Morrison breathed fresh life into their women’s curling campaign with a brilliant victory over world champions Canada.
After opening defeats to China and Korea, the pressure was on but they rose to the challenge with a 7-6 victory that was more comprehensive than the scoreline suggests.
Rebecca Morrison said: “It’s fantastic. We’ve always said coming into this that we love being the underdogs and we said that we are just going to go out there and play free.
“That is what we did today and we proved that we love being the underdogs.”
Team Mouat on track
Team Mouat continued their strong start to the men’s round robin with a 7-4 win over Czechia. That took them to three wins from their first four matches and in a strong place to qualify for the medal matches. Bobby Lammie revealed Matt Weston’s skeleton gold on Friday night served as the perfect inspiration for the rest of Team GB.
“It was pretty cool to watch that and it kind of gives you momentum I guess and makes you want to do that yourself so yeah, try to replicate that anywhere we can,” he said.
“It definitely motivates you and I think getting that first medal for Team GB and it being a gold as well kind of, as I say, gives the rest of the group confidence.”
Pendry finishes on a high
Shawna Pendry closed her Olympic campaign on a high with an 89th-place finish in the women’s biathlon 7.5km sprint. The Olympic debutante admitted it was tough out on the course but was pleased with the way she fought through.
"It was great and I'm really proud of what I've done here," she said. "It has been a great experience with so many people around on the track cheering. It was so much fun. "I will be back in the years to come."
Gerken Schofield left wanting more
Makayla Gerken Schofield admitted she wanted more from her dual moguls run. Gerken Schofield was beaten by Avital Carroll in the round of 16, with the Team GB athlete outscored by her Austrian opponent.
But Gerken Schofield was proud of her efforts despite wanting more from some of her tricks.
"I'm happy about my run, the only thing that kind of took me by surprise was that the jumps were kind of sticky, and I didn't go as big as I wanted to," she said.
"I knew I had the speed but I didn't get enough and on the bottom jump I went really small and I was like 'oh no, that's not what I planned'.
"It took me off guard. I was expecting to go much bigger so I kind of have to like judge my rotation to actually make it onto my feet.”
