McCormack was comfortable in his semi-final but light-heavyweight Ben Whittaker found the going far tougher against Croatia’s Luka Plantic and edged a thrilling fight on a split decision. He fights Azerbaijan’s Alfonso Rodriguez for the title.
There was disappointment for Cheavon Clarke and Luke McCormack, who both lost their semi-finals.
Heavyweight Clarke went down to Spain’s Emmanuel Reyes Pla by a split decision, while McCormack also lost by a split decision to France’s Sofiane Oumiha. Both men leave with bronze medals.
