Zara Phillips makes the right impression

Zara Phillips continued her strong start to the eventing season at the Land Rover Gatcombe Horse Trials.

Phillips, who is seen as having an outside chance of making the Great Britain team for this summer's Olympics, made an impression on the weekend's feature class.

She leads the dressage phase on Lord Lauries and lies second with Silver Lining in the advance intermediate section L.

More than half of the 52-strong field, though, face dressage tests on Sunday, with Oliver Townend (ODT Sonas Rovatio) and Lucy Wiegersma (Woodfalls Inigo Jones) expected to mount strong challenges.

Phillips, meanwhile, finished fifth aboard Black Tuxedo in her intermediate novice section, the class being won by Gloucestershire-based Daisy Berkeley with Vroluk, ahead of Nick Gauntlett (The Court Jester).
