Yarnold admits MBE is 'amazing honour'

Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold has collected another gong after being awarded an MBE in the Queen's birthday honours list.

Yarnold, 25, memorably struck skeleton gold in Sochi and won the overall World Cup title after a season of dominance.

"It is such an amazing honour to be awarded an MBE - I never expected it - it is a weird feeling when you open the envelope from Buckingham Palace and read that you have been given one," she said.

"I feel so privileged and want to thank all those who helped me win in Sochi - my friends, family, coaches, support team and all those people who cheered me on from the UK - without their support none of this would have been possible so thanks so much.”
