Smith raring to go

Team GB rhythmic gymnastics captain Rachel Smith can barely contain her excitement as she and her team-mates prepare to make history at the London Olympics.

The 19-year-old from Coventry will lead the first British rhythmic gymnastics team to ever compete at an Olympics when their competition gets under way at Wembley Arena on August 9.

She told Press Association Sport: "There are only a few weeks to go now and everything is starting to get real.

"We went to get our kit and that was incredible and to wear it now is a really good feeling.

"We have seen pictures from some of our friends who have got into the Olympic village on Twitter and Facebook and it looks so exciting and I can't wait to get in there and enjoy every moment of it."
