Robinson-Baker ready for big push at World Championships

Nick Robinson-Baker admits he finds himself in a similar position this year as he was 12 months ago – ready to produce his best at the biggest event on his diving calendar.

This time last year Robinson-Baker was preparing for his second Olympic appearance at London 2012, this time partnering Chris Mears in the 3m synchro.

Robinson-Baker, who ranked seventh with Ben Swain in the same event at Beijing 2008, finished fifth with Mears in the Olympic Aquatics Centre in the capital.

And now he is preparing for the upcoming World Championships in Barcelona after a busy season competing with Mears across the globe on the Diving World Series.

The pair won bronze together three times during the World Series and Robinson-Baker insists he is all set to give it his all once again at the global gathering in Barcelona.

“We’re excited about getting out there. It has been a compact season with a lot of events back-to-back but we’re ready for one last push at the big event,” said Robinson-Baker.

“It’s like last year with the Olympics, we said we wanted to be ready for the finals and we were. We decided to miss the European Championships to recover from the season and focus on the worlds.

“We’re up against the best, but we’re looking forward to it.”
