Adam Peaty swam the quickest 100m breaststroke time in the world this year to beat his own Edinburgh International Meet record.
The 25-year-old swimmer, who won gold at Rio 2016, recorded a time of 58.13 seconds to finish 1.35s clear of compatriot James Wilby.
Peaty’s time took 0.30 seconds off the previous 2020 best set by Netherland’s Arno Kamminga, and 0.60s off his Edinburgh record.
Olympian Duncan Scott produced a lifetime best time of 22.21 seconds to become the 50m freestyle champion and the new Scotland record holder in the process.
James Guy, who also represented Team GB at Rio 2016, broke a four-year meet record in the 200m butterfly as his time of 1:56.62 seconds was 0.98s quicker than Denmark’s Viktor Bromer’s 1:57.64 registered in 2016.
This gold medal added to the 200m freestyle silver Guy won on Friday while Joe Litchfield and Daniel Jervis also set meet records on Saturday.
Litchfield backed up his success in the 100m backstroke by triumphing in the 50m backstroke in 25.32, shaving 0.14 off the previous best.
And Jervis produced an impressive performance in the 800m freestyle in 7:51.26 which is more than six seconds off the meet’s record.
There was also a record-breaking time for Kathleen Dawson who stormed home to win the 50m backstroke title – 0.02 better than Mie Nielsen’s 2016 time.
Freya Anderson matched the meet record of 1:58.04 in winning the 200m freestyle gold.
