O'Connor claims second medal at Euro Short Course Champs

Siobhan-Marie O’Connor won her second medal of the European Short Course Championships as she stormed to bronze in the 100m individual medley in Denmark.

The 18-year-old had already claimed silver in the 200m individual medley earlier in the week and served notice of her impressive winter form, touching home in a new personal best time of 58.26 seconds.

The race was won by Plymouth-based Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte, who won gold in the 100m breaststroke at London 2012, in a championship record time of 57.68 seconds while Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu took third in 57.96

In the 400m freestyle final Jazz Carlin finished in sixth place in a new personal best time of 4:00.92 minutes while team-mate Hannah Miley finished in seventh in 4:03.35.

Bronze medallist in the 200m individual medley Sophie Allen also qualified in seventh place for the final of the 100m breaststroke in 1:06.00.

Jemma Lowe finished second in the first semi-final of the 100m butterfly after touching home in a time of 57.06 seconds.

Meanwhile Chris Walker-Hebborn will go into the 100m backstroke final third fastest after clocking 51.08, Craig McNally finishing 14th overall in 52.19.

Elsewhere, Adam Peaty finished in 11th place in the 50m Breaststroke in 26.99.
