Jamie Murray's two-pronged attack continued in Melbourne as he progressed to the quarter-finals of both the men's and mixed doubles at the Australian Open.
The three-time Olympian is seeking a seventh, and maybe even an eighth, Grand Slam success Down Under and once again he’s in the thick of the action at the business end.
However, it was not without its difficulties as the 32-year-old, alongside men’s doubles partner Bruno Soares, had to save three match points before battling through against German Kevin Krawietz and Croat Nikola Mektic in the last 16.
The third seeds lost the first set 7-6 but broke their opponents twice on the way to levelling it up, taking the second set 6-2.
A tense decider see-sawed both ways, with Krawietz and Mektic wasting three match points, before Murray and Soares emerged with the win – clinching it 7-5 in the third.
They now go on to face 12th seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers for a place in the last four.
Hours after that match finished, Murray was back in action alongside Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the mixed doubles.
The pair, who won the US Open title in September, swept aside Robert Lindstedt and Kristina Mladenovic 6-4, 6-4 to set up a clash against qualifiers Astra Sharma and John-Patrick Smith.
Murray could be on course to meet fellow British player Neal Skupski in the final after he and partner María José Martínez Sánchez saw off Jessica Moore and Andrew Whittingdon 6-4, 6-1.
