Murray's mint as Jamie surges into Queen's doubles final

Jamie Murray and his partner Bruno Soares are just one victory away from defending their men's doubles title at Queen's Club.

Murray – a five-time Grand Slam winner across men’s and mixed doubles – needed a final set champions tiebreak to down top seeds Olivier Marach and Mate Pavic in the semi-finals on Saturday.

The three-time Olympian for Team GB and his partner Soares – the fourth seeds here in London – held on in the end however, to secure a 6-3, 6-7, 10-7 victory.

Victory for Jamie would cap a fine week for the Murray family after brother Andy made his long-awaited injury return in the men’s singles competition.

But if Murray senior is to take the doubles title for a second year in a row, he and Soares will need to get past seconds seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers in the final.

Kontinen and Peers also needed a match tiebreak to down another all-British duo in Neal Skupski and Kyle Edmund on Friday night at Queen’s 7-6, 5-7, 10-6. Sportsbeat 2018
