Muir crowned Diamond League champion at Zurich's Weltklasse

Laura Muir’s week to remember continued as she clinched the IAAF Diamond League title in Zurich.

Muir, 23, beat her own British 1500m record by more than two seconds to win last week's Diamond League race in Paris.

And her second place finish behind American Shannon Rowbury in Switzerland ensured she finished just ahead of Kenyan Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon in the overall standings.

“This is amazing, I never expected anything like this,” said Muir, who finished seventh in the Olympic final in Rio.

“I am the Diamond Race winner, so this is big, big for me.”

Elsewhere, Adam Gemili ran a season's best of 10.11 seconds to finish fifth in the men's 100m which was won by Jamaica's Asafa Powell.

Dina Asher-Smith finished fourth in a 200m race won by Jamaica’s double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson, who clocked 21.85 secs to beat Holland’s Dafne Schippers by one hundredth of a second.

And Britain's Cindy Ofili finished second behind world record holder Kendra Harrison in the 100m hurdles while Martyn Rooney ranked fourth in the 400m, won by LaShawn Merritt.
