Laugher ends World Series with gold in Canada

Jack Laugher’s World Series season came to a stunning conclusion as the Olympic 3m champion won his second individual gold of the series.

Having taken gold in the 3m springboard competition at the opening leg of the series in Beijing, Laugher went on to take silver in Guangzhou before finishing out of the medals in the third leg of four in Kazan.

But he was back to his best in Windsor, Canada, as he beat Xie Siyi into silver – however that was enough for the Chinese diver to claim the overall World Series 3m springboard title, with Laugher second.

Laugher led from start to finish after scoring 90 points in the opening round, before following that up with a score of 99.45 in the fourth for his front 2.5 somersaults triple twist, piked.

But it was in the fifth and penultimate round where he secured the gold, though, scoring 108.30 for a front 4.5 tucked somersault effort.

Following his final dive he finished on 567.15 points, almost 40 clear of Siyi, with his compatriot Cao Yuan in third on 500.50.
