World champion Richard Kilty is determined to transfer his indoor form outdoors as he prepares to test himself against Yohan Blake at the Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix in July.
Kilty has already had a year to remember, winning 60m gold at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland, in March.
But he is not about to stop there and is looking to take that form into the 100m when he struts his stuff in Scotland as a world champion.
Waiting for him north of the border will be the likes of Jamaican Blake, the world’s second fastest man of all time over 100m, and compatriot Adam Gemili, who became the second fastest British athlete over 200m of all time after clocking 19.98 seconds at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow.
But despite the stern tests that await Kilty is adamant his indoor successes can be repeated.
"It has been an unforgettable start to the season for me. Running personal bests and winning the World Indoor Championships has put me up there in the world of sprinting and I’m determined to stay there,” said Kilty, who will be facing Blake for the first time.
"Now it’s all about translating my 60m form into the 100m and the Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix will give me the platform to test myself against the very best out there.
"Yohan (Blake), Kim (Collins) and Adam (Gemili) are all great athletes in their own right and I know it’s going to take a fast time to win the race.
“However, I showed in Poland that I have confidence in my ability and I’m ready to show that again on the biggest stage this summer starting with the Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix.”
