Kenny takes silver at track cycling World Cup

Three-time Olympic champion Jason Kenny settled for sprint silver at the track cycling World Cup in Aguascalientes.

France’s Francois Pervis set a new world 9.347 second world record in qualifying but former world champion Kenny was beaten by Australia's Matthew Glaetzer over two races in the final.

Double world champion Becky James came through the repechages to take bronze in the women's keirin, as Germany's Kristina Vogel followed up on last month's win in Manchester to take gold again.

Elsewhere, Owain Doull took gold in the men's scratch race while Elinor Barker, part of the women's team pursuit quartet that won gold in a world record time, added individual pursuit silver to her medal tally.

Ed Clancy finished fifth in the men's omnium while Olympic champion Laura Trott sits second in the women's omnium, with a victory in her trademark elimination race meaning she is just behind American world champion Sarah Hammer.
