GB slump to seventh straight loss

Head coach Chris Finch paid tribute to Great Britain's men's basketball team despite seeing them suffer yet another defeat in their run up to the Olympics.

EuroBasket champions Spain edged to a 78-74 win in Valladolid to hand Britain their seventh consecutive loss.

Joel Freeland led the way for GB with 15 points, with Mike Lenzly contributing 13 to continue his good run.

But while Finch saw his side's wretched run continue, he was more than pleased by what he saw.

"Spain are a world-class team and we played well in front of a large, loud Spanish crowd," Finch said after the loss.

"We need to make more plays down the stretch to win against teams of this calibre. From day one we planned to play the very best teams in our preparation period.

"Every team we have played so far is qualified for the Olympics. This will serve us well over the next month."
