GB hopeful Collett impresses

Great Britain Olympic hopeful Laura Collett gained an early-season success at the Lincolnshire Horse Trials.

Wiltshire-based Collett guided her top horse Rayef to an open intermediate victory, finishing comfortably ahead of two other possible Olympic combinations William Fox-Pitt (Oslo) and Piggy French (Jakata), who were third and 15th, respectively.

Collett and Rayef competed at last summer's European Championships in Germany, which followed a top-10 finish at Badminton four months previously.

Fox-Pitt took two more of his Olympic prospects to the Lincolnshire Showground, competing at open intermediate level on Lionheart (12th) and Parklane Hawk (22nd).
