British pair Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier took another step towards Olympic qualification by reaching the semi-finals of the Swiss Open.
The Anglo-Scottish duo assured themselves of a rise in the world rankings from their present position of 14th as they beat Japan's Kenichi Hayakawa and Misaki Matsutomo 21-9 21-19 in the mixed doubles in Basle.
Adcock and Bankier beat their chief rivals for a Team GB spot, Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork, in the second round on Thursday and now look poised to extend their lead over the world number 17s.
