Victoria Pendleton cemented her legacy as one of the greatest British cyclists in history by winning keirin gold and sprint silver at the London Olympics in 2012.

The Stotfold-born cyclist, who grew up in Hitchin, had already won sprint gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and was awarded a CBE in 2013.

Victoria rode her first race, a 400m event, on the grass track at Fordham aged nine but by the time of her retirement from cycling in 2012 she had won nine World Championship gold medals, five silver medals and two bronzes.
