BIOGRAPHY

Richard Chambers is a two-time world champion in the men’s lightweight four (2007 and 2010), and older brother of fellow British rower Peter.

At the London Olympic Games in 2012, they became the first brothers to row on the British team since Greg and Jonny Searle.

After missing out on a medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, when the lightweight four came fifth, Chambers came back to win silver in London where Team GB finished just 0.25 seconds behind South Africa.

He and team-mate Will Fletcher reached the semi-finals of the lightweight men’s double sculls at Rio 2016 with Chambers announcing his retirement in September 2016 to take up a coaching role at Cambridge.
