Nekoda Smythe-Davis made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016 and, having been trouble by an ankle injury in the build up to the Games, made the second round of the -57kg division before being beaten by France's Automne Pavia.

Smythe-Davis was crowned Commonwealth and British champion in 2014, and more medals followed in the next two years, with silvers at the Baku Grand Slam.

As a junior, Smythe-Davis won four European Cup and five National Championships gold medals, while in 2017 she became the first Brit for seven years to win a World Championships medal – taking bronze in Budapest.

She went one better at the World Championships a year later in Baku, claiming silver after beating defending champion and world number one Sumiya Dorjsuren in her semi-final.
