Growing up it seemed there was no end to Lily Owsley’s sporting prowess as she demonstrated her talent in hockey, football and athletics – finishing second over 800m at the 2012 English Schools’ Championships.
But after being introduced to hockey aged 13 at Clifton College, Owsley never looked back, helping England claim silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and gold at the 2015 European Championships in London, scoring in the finals of both.
In January 2016, she was named FIH Rising Star of 2015, before being selected to make her Olympic debut in Rio later that year.
There, she scored the first goal of the tournament, before scoring again in the final against the Netherlands, helping the team to win Team GB’s first hockey gold since 1988.
In 2017, she helped England to win bronze at the European Championships in Amstelveen.
