Somerset­-born Liam Phillips started  cycling from the age of five, taking up competitive BMX whilst a junior and winning ten consecutive British titles. 

He won his first major international title at the 1999 European Championships and was able to call himself a world champion after success in 2013.

A year later Phillips became the first British male to win the BMX Supercross World Cup before becoming the first rider to win back-to-back titles when he triumphed in 2015 too.
