Janice Rankin started curling at the age of ten, and was a member of the gold medal winning women's curling team at her debut Olympics in Salt Lake City, 2002 – alongside team mates Rhona Martin (skip), Deborah Knox, Fiona MacDonald and Margaret Morton.

Prior to the 2002 Games, Janice won silver medals at the 1994 World Championships and the 1998 European Championships.

She is a graduate of Strathclyde University where she studied Sport in the Community and later worked as a recruitment administrator.
