Ian Stannard showed promise when he won the Commonwealth Youth Games time trial in 2004 and the Under-23 team pursuit at the European Track Championships two years later.

The Chelmsford-born cyclist continued to enjoy success at senior level finishing third in the Tour of Britain in 2008 and helping Mark Cavendish to Great Britain’s first world road title for 46 years in 2011.

Stannard was crowned the British National Road Race champion in June 2012 and made his Olympic debut in London shortly after.

He also competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games before helping Chris Froome to his historic Vuelta a España win the following year.
