BIOGRAPHY

Greg Rutherford had trials with Aston Villa FC before focusing on athletics, winning his first national long jump title in 2005.

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the Milton Keynes athlete won gold and since then has gone on to establish himself as one of Team GB’s all-time greats.

He won Commonwealth and European gold in 2014 and backed that up by claiming his first ever world title in Beijing in 2015 for the clean sweep of long-jump titles.

At the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Rutherford jumped 8.29m in the final round to win the bronze medal behind Jeff Henderson and Luvo Manyonga.
