Fran Halsall won 2014 Commonwealth gold in both the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly races and was the youngest member of swimming squad at the 2006 Games in Melbourne, where she won two relay silvers and three individual medals.

Fran was born in Southport and attended St Mary’s College. She was scouted by coach Ben Titley as a 12-year-old swimming for City of Liverpool and later moved to Loughborough.

She swam in six events at the 2008 Olympic Games and five at London 2012 while she claimed her first World title in 2015 as part of the 4x100m mixed relay team.

At Rio 2016, Halsall narrowly missed out on a first Olympic medal with a fourth place finish in the 50m freestyle, just 0.02 seconds off bronze and 0.06 off gold.
