Euan Byers began curling at the age of age, taking up the sport because both of his parents curled, along with his brother Stuart and sister Jan.

He originally retired in 2001 but was called back to action by Dave Murdoch, and as such made his Olympic debut at the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games. The team norrowly missed out on a medal finishing fourth.

He also competed at the Vancouver 2010 Games, where again Team GB came close to a medal placing fifth after losing a play off match to Sweden.

Aside from the Olympics, Byers was also a member of the men’s curling team who won the World Championships in 2009.
