Elinor Barker is an Olympic gold medallist and three-time world champion who first took up cycling with the Maindy Flyers at the age of ten as a way of getting out of swimming classes.

From such humble beginnings, the Cardiff-born cyclist went on to win team pursuit gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, before adding points race gold and two silvers at the World Championships the following year.

This came after she won team pursuit bronze at the 2016 World Championships in London, adding to a sweep of medals, as she won silver in 2015 and gold in the previous two years.

She also won team pursuit gold at the 2013 and 2014 European Championships, also winning silver and bronze at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

At her next Commonwealth Games in 2018 Barker raced to gold in the points race, took team pursuit silver at the World Championships in Apeldoorn the same year, and gold in the same event at the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow.
