Ciara Horne was chosen to take her Olympic Games bow fresh from helping Great Britain to team pursuit bronze at the 2016 World Championships in London.

Horne won a second European team pursuit gold in 2015, as well as bronze in the individual pursuit, the same medal she won at the next year’s UCI Road World Championships.

At Rio, she was the unused fifth rider in the women’s team pursuit squad, the quartet Laura Trott, Elinor Barker, Joanna Rowsell Shand and Katie Archibald winning gold in world record time.
