Callum Hawkins made his marathon debut in Frankfurt in 2015 where he finished 12th – with he and older brother Derek becoming the first brothers to represent Scotland at a Commonwealth Games since Ian and Peter Stewart at Edinburgh 1970.

Hawkins ran in the 10,000m at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games where he finished 20th with a time of 29:12.52.

At the 2016 London Marathon, his second event over the distance, Hawkins finished eighth overall and earned his place in the Team GB squad for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where he placed ninth.

In January 2017, he became the first Brit to beat Mo Farah in any race for seven years, and at that year’s IAAF World Championships, he finished fourth in the marathon, equalling the best ever performance by a Brit in the event.
