A double Olympic medallist, Alex Danson MBE was part of the history-making women's hockey team who stormed to gold at Rio 2016, winning all eight of their matches along the way.
The forward also competed at London 2012, winning bronze in front of the home crowds in the Olympic Park.
Danson was just 16 when she made her international debut in 2001, and ten years later, was named in the FIH’s World All Stars Team.
Her goal helped England defeat Germany to win bronze at the 2010 World Cup, and in 2014, she won her third Commonwealth Games medal with silver in Glasgow, having won bronze in both Melbourne and Delhi.
Having won bronze at four consecutive EuroHockey Championships from 2005 to 2011, she won silver in 2013 before gold in London two years later, and in 2017, Danson captained the team to bronze in Amstelveen.
In 2017, she was made MBE in the New Years' Honours List for services to hockey.
