The fourth and final Grand Slam of 2026 is finally upon us as the US Open returns.
First contested in 1881 as the US National Championships, it is based in Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York.

US Open Singles Draw
Cameron Norrie, Arthur Fery and Jan Choinski will headline British men's singles action in New York.
British No.1 Norrie reached the fourth round of the competition back in 2022 and will look to return to those heights once more.
Following his fairytale run to the semifinals of Wimbledon earlier this summer, Fery has received his first main draw placing.
Choinski also sees his first main draw outing after breaking into the top 100 during the 2026 grass court season.
Jack Draper has withdrawn from the competition through his ongoing injury. The Brit reached the semi-finals in 2024.
Paris 2024 Olympian Katie Boulter will hold women's singles hopes for GB in New York after receiving a main draw entry.
Her best result at the tournament came in 2023 when she reached the third round, which also equals her Grand Slam best result.
British No.1 and 2021 victor Emma Raducanu has been forced to withdraw due to injury.
What is GB's history in singles at the US Open?
Only three British singles players have had the honour of winning the US Open in the Open Era.
Virginia Wade (1968), Andy Murray (2012) and Raducanu (2021) all won their first-ever Grand Slams on the hard court, with Wade taking the inaugural women's title.
Greg Rusedski reached the final in 1997 before a young Murray reached his first Grand Slam final in 2008.
Raducanu's incredible 2021 victory saw her come through the qualifying rounds before winning ten straight matches without dropping a single set.
US Open Doubles Draw
Henry Patten, Lloyd Glasspool and Neal Skupski are set for dual doubles action this year, with entries into both the mixed and men's doubles.
Taking part in the Fan Week competition in the mixed doubles, all three will be back in action for the men's doubles in September, with Glasspool teaming up with fellow Brit Julian Cash.
The duo clinched Wimbledon glory in 2025 and will be looking to replicate that on the hard court in New York.
Olivia Nicholls is the only British women to receive a main draw entry in the women's doubles, teaming up with her usual partner in Slovakia's Tereza Mihalíková.
What is GB's history in doubles at the US Open?
Britain has seen a greater level of success in doubles at the US Open during the Open Era, with 13 titles between 1968 and 2023.
Joe Salisbury is GB's most successful British doubles player at the event, with a record three consecutive men's doubles titles with parter Rajeev Ram between 2021 and 2023.
Jamie Murray has also enjoyed his trips across the Atlantic, winning the men's doubles in 2016 before landing a hat-trick of mixed doubles titles from 2017 to 2019.
Wade won two women's doubles titles with Margaret Court in 1973 and 1975, which Roger Taylor and Peter Curtis opened Britain's success in the 1960s and 70s.
How does Mixed Doubles at the US Open work?
The 2025 US Open saw a change in the usual mixed doubles format, moved to the week ahead of the tournament known as Fan Week.
Eight teams earned direct entry based on their combined singles ranking and eight teams received wild card entries, with mixed doubles specialists alongside singles stars.
In the 2026 edition, British star Patten played against newly paired Aryna Sablenka and Novak Djokovic in his first-round clash.
US Open Qualifying
A total of 14 Brits were included in the 2026 US Open qualifying draw, including four-time Olympian Heather Watson.
How does qualifying for the US Open work?
Qualifying runs during the week prior to the main tournament, as with the other Grand Slams.
The tournament acts as a way for lower-ranked players to earn a spot in the main draw the following week, with a certain number of designated spots left open.
Players must win all of their qualifying matches to progress to the main draw, with Raducanu the only qualifier to win a Grand Slam in the Open Era.
