Team Morrison facing two 'must-win matches'

Jen Dodds says Team GB face two must-win matches on Monday after the women’s curling team slipped to a third defeat of Milano Cortina 2026.

Dodds and teammates Rebecca Morrison, Sophie Jackson and Sophie Sinclair showed plenty of fight but lost 10-7 to Anna Hasselborgh’s unbeaten Sweden.

The quartet are in action twice tomorrow, first against Denmark and then Switzerland – who are both in the top four as it stands.

Dodds believes they are improving with each match but admits they need to start recording victories to improve their semi-final hopes.

“We have two big games tomorrow, Denmark and Switzerland. They are probably two must-win games for us now,” she said.

“But I am really proud of the fight of the girls, we never gave up, we just kept working away to get some points back on the board.”

Sweden beat Team Morrison in November’s European Championship final and they oozed class at the Cortina Curling Stadium.

Team GB made a strong start and won the first end lying two shots but Sweden hit back in the second, taking a 3-2 lead.

Another three-point score in the fourth end stretched their advantage to 6-3 and that became 8-3 two ends later.

But Team GB fought back, scoring two points in both the seventh and ninth ends to stay within touching distance until the end.

“We should be really proud of that. We came back and tried really hard and we're creating some really good shots and working really well as a team,” Sinclair said.

“So it's just really trying to focus on those key moments. I think that's just where we need to focus in tomorrow.

“We’re a team that grows into tournaments traditionally and I think that's definitely what we're doing.

“Unfortunately we came up against a very tough team there in Sweden, they after previous Olympic champions.

“It's still so early in the event so I think we just need to keep focusing one game at a time and just trying to put our best performance together.”
