Team GB's best duos: Torvill & Dean and more

The final curtain draws to a close.

It's always an emotional moment when an iconic partnership comes to an end and it won't be any different when Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean step onto the ice for the final time in July.

The ice dance pair are undertaking their final string of performances entitled 'Our Last Dance', waving farewell to fans who have supported them since their Olympic bow in 1980.

In light of their last performance, we are paying homage to some of Team GB's most iconic pairs over the years.

From the Brownlee brothers to the men who made the Chariots of Fire, here are just 10 of Team GB's dynamic duos.

Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell: Paris 1924

Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell will forever go down in history as one of Britain's most iconic Olympic pairs.

Despite competing against each other as rivals, their Paris 1924 fame put them together as a force to be reckoned with on the athletics track.

With Abrahams taking 100m gold and Liddell winning the 400m, the story of how they got to the start line would go on to inspire the 1981 Oscar winning film 'Chariots of Fire' and etch their names into history as Britain's most memorable forefathers on the athletics track.

Anthony Nash and Robin Dixon: Innsbruck 1964-Grenoble 1968

To this day, Anthony Nash and Robin Dixon are Team GB's only bobsleigh Olympic champions.

Nash and Dixon were both introduced to the winter sport in the 1950s, first teaming up together as part of Henry Taylor’s four-man team in 1960 before breaking off for their own two-man sled.

They went on to win Olympic gold in 1964, as well as three World Championships medals between 1963 and 1966.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean: Lake Placid 1980-Lillehammer 1994

Maurice Ravel's Bolero will forever be synonymous with Torvill and Dean.

The ice dancers captured the hearts of millions as they soared to Olympic gold at Sarajevo 1984, also taking the honour of becoming the highest scored figure skaters in history with a perfect score.

The two have been joined at the hip professionally ever since, through their work on the hit TV show 'Dancing On Ice', dancing tours and even a joint Wikipedia page.
