Team GB set to dance on Day 5

Team GB return to competition across four sports on Wednesday, with medals up for grabs in figure skating, biathlon and freestyle skiing.

Freestyle Skiing

Makayla Gerken Schofield goes in the women’s moguls qualification two after an 18th-place finish in qualification one on Tuesday.

The top 10 skiers progressed directly through to the final, which takes place on Wednesday afternoon at 2.15pm.

Gerken Schofield begins her campaign to reach the final at 11am and will need to finish in the top 10 to reach the final.

The Chelsmford-born skier made her debut at Beijing 2022 and secured Team GB's best-ever finish of eighth.

She spoke before the Games about having to adapt since, after her siblings retired from the circuit.

Biathlon

Shawna Pendry will make her Olympic debut in the women’s 15km individual.

Pendry will be the first female British biathlete to compete at a Games since Amanda Lightfoot in 2018.

Pendry was born in Derby but moved to Font-Romeu in France aged four, where she picked up biathlon alongside working in her parents' brewery.

She previously represented Team GB at the Winter Youth Olympics in 2020.

Curling

The men’s team round robin gets underway on Wednesday, with Team Mouat hitting the ice at 7.05pm to take on China.

Bruce Mouat, Hammy McMillan, Bobby Lammie and Grant Hardie won silver four years ago in Beijing and have all returned to Milano Cortina.

Mouat missed out on a medal in the mixed doubles alongside Jen Dodds, as they were beaten by hosts Italy in the bronze medal match on Tuesday.

Figure Skating

The ice dance competition reaches its crescendo on Wednesday evening, with two British pairs competing in the free dance.

Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson are ranked fourth after the rhythm dance after a score of 85.47, while Phebe Bekker and James Hernandez are 16th after a score of 72.46.

Fear and Gibson will dance to a Scottish-inspired medley, while Bekker and Hernandez have a Romeo and Juliet-themed effort.
