Robbie Grabarz awarded London 2012 high jump silver

Robbie Grabarz has been officially upgraded to an Olympic silver medal at London 2012 by the International Olympic Committee.

Nine years ago, the high jumper finished in a three-way tie for bronze with Canada's Derek Drouin and Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim.

Russian gold medallist Ivan Ukhov has been disqualified from the event, confirmed in a submission to the IOC by World Athletics in June.

Medals have now been reallocated and Grabarz, who cleared 2.29m to claim a podium place, has been rightfully awarded with a silver medal.

USA's Erik Kynard, who went over 2.33m, has been given the gold medal.

It was one of five adjustments to results made at Friday's meeting of the International Committee's Executive Board.

The announcement means that Team GB's total of 65 medals at London 2012 now stands at 29 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze.

Grabarz, now 34, retired in 2018. His palmares also includes gold at the 2012 European Championships.

In addition to Grabarz, Team GB's Shara Proctor has also been upgraded at the Games. Proctor is officially confirmed as finishing sixth in the women's long jump following the disqualification of three competitors; Ineta Radevica of Latvia, Russia's Anna Nazarova, and Belarus's Nastassia Mironchyk,.
