Page still flying with World Cup gold

Double Olympic medallist Bryony Page continued her fine form as she claimed World Cup gold in Arosa with a personal best score.

The recently-crowned European champion earned gold in Switzerland with a score of 57.095 points and was joined on the podium by Hikaru Mori of Japan and New Zealand’s Maddie Davidson.

Page has been unstoppable since claiming bronze at Tokyo 2020, going on to be crowned world champion late last year.

Worthington bags bronze

Charlotte Worthington won her first international medal since being crowned Olympic champion with World Cup bronze in Brussels.

The BMX freestyle star, who crashed on her first run, pulled off a front flip and an ambitious series of skills to post 93.00 at the second attempt.

It was good enough for third behind Hannah Roberts and Perris Benegas, while Kieran Reilly claimed bronze for Great Britain in the men’s event.

Bold as Brash in Aachen

Meanwhile, Britain's showjumpers laid down a marker for August's World Equestrian Games at the Nations Cup in Aachen.

2012 Olympic champion Scott Brash finished with a silver and bronze medal having secured second in the Rolex Grand Prix individual event.

Brash, who was the first rider to complete the Rolex Grand Slam in 2015, finished just 0.61 points behind Germany’s Gerrit Nieberg, with Ben Maher in 10th.

The duo had earlier combined with Harry Charles and John Whitaker to claim bronze in the Nations Cup with Charles riding two double clears as the team ended with eight faults behind them.

It was Britain's first podium finish since 2011 at the prestigious Aachen event and they last won the Nations Cup there 22 years ago.

In the dressage, Tokyo bronze medallist Charlotte Fry led Great Britain to sixth place in the team competition before matching the feat in the individual discipline, just 3.091 points off the podium.

Tennis success

Two-time Olympian Heather Watson's Wimbledon dreams came true as she reached the fourth round for the first time.

Watson had never previously passed the third round of a Grand Slam but enjoyed a memorable victory over Kaja Juvan, advancing 7-6 (8-6) 6-2.

Her singles run came to an end with defeat to Julie Niemeier of Germany on Sunday, also reaching the round of 16 with Harriet Dart in women's doubles.

Six British men reached round three of the men’s doubles with Tokyo Olympian Joe Salisbury the first to advance to the quarterfinals.

Saturday at Wimbledon also saw a whole host of Team GB stars welcomed to Centre Court, with Eve Muirhead’s gold-medal-winning curlers celebrated alongside the likes of Tom Daley and Beth Shriever.

Petter poaches draw

England started their Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against India, just as they did four years ago.

12 of the 18 Olympians who beat India to bronze in Tokyo are on the hunt for England's second-ever World Cup medal and first since 2010.

Pull of Paris 2024 proving tough to ignore for hockey legend Unsworth

Izzy Petter opened the scoring for England on her World Cup debut just nine minutes into the game, as her superb deflection found the roof of the net.

Katariya Vandana equalised just before half-time before the two sides played out a nervy second half as they each took a point from their World Cup opener.

Goalscorer Petter said: “It was always going to be a tough first game, India are a class side. We're happy to get the draw, we would have wanted the win.

"We'll take the point and it's onto the next one."

England will now face New Zealand, who also drew with China, on Tuesday before ending their group stages against China on Thursday.
