Matt Weston and Tabitha Stoecker soar to mixed team skeleton gold

Matt Weston became the first British Winter Olympian to win two medals at a single Games as he roared to mixed team skeleton gold alongside Tabitha Stoecker.

Just two days after winning the individual event, Weston returned to the track with more history on the cards and combined with Stoecker to deliver it.

It marks a first Olympic medal for 25-year-old Stoecker, who is making her Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026.

Dropping in last, Germany sat in one and two, with Team GB's second pairing of Marcus Wyatt and Freya Tarbit in the bronze medal spot.

The pressure was on as Stoecker looked to bounce back from a fifth place finish in the women's individual event and put down a time of 1:00.77 to sit 0.3 behind the leaders.

But the gap did not worry Weston, who immediately turned red to green and laid down a roaring time of 58.59 to overtake Axel Jungk and Susanne Kreher and soar to his second gold of the Games.

It marked Team GB's third of the Games and second of the day, having previously never one more than one gold at a single Games.

"I can't believe it," said Stoecker. "It's a team effort. When Matt came down and we were in the green, I think I was in shock."

Weston added: "Luckily I felt like I knew what I needed to do. When I had the individual event, I took a load of confidence from that and I almost had to be boring and get the job done. We've done it again!"
