Liam Richards has achieved the ultimate one-up on his family.
The 18-year-old hails from rich sporting stock, with his both his parents competing for the British Sailing team, one aunt competing in dressage for Team GB at a Youth Olympic Games and another holding the title as the first British woman and youngest person to complete the Around Alone boat race.
But none of them have ever made it to the Olympic Games - only Richards can lay claim to that.
The teenager is Team GB's youngest athlete at Milano Cortina 2026 and will compete in the freestyle skiing halfpipe later this week as he makes his Olympic debut.
Richards' dad Andy had previously come the closest to reaching a senior Games but just missed out on a spot in sailing.
But Andy will finally reach the Olympic pinnacle in Italy, as a supporter, watching on proudly as his son drops into the halfpipe.
"My dad did a couple Olympic campaigns," he said. "He unfortunately didn't quite make it but was super, super close both times.
"But he's super proud and I'm super happy to do it for him. It's super cool.
"I'm super excited, it's been so cool so far in the village and training has been going good so far, so I'm super excited to compete."
With his entire family rooted in summer sport, it is fair to question how Richards ended up on a pair of skis.
But when you're born in Zurich and move to the resort town of Wanaka, New Zealand, skiing becomes second nature.
Richards made his World Cup debut in 2024 and recently saw his best finish of ninth place at Copper Mountain last December.
He now turns up to Livigno alongside teammates Gus Kenworthy and Zoe Atkin in the pipe.
Atkin is world champion and recent X Games winner in the women's event, while Kenworthy made his Team GB debut at Beijing 2022, having previously competed for the USA and won slopestyle silver at Sochi 2014.
Richards was just six-years-old when Kenworthy soared onto the Olympic podium, but does have faint memories of the moment.
And after hearing that the skier had come out of retirement to qualify alongside him at Milano Cortina 2026, it's a moment to remember for Richards who can now call Kenworthy his teammate.
"I've known Zoe decently well for a while now." he said.
"But then Gus only just came back last year so I met him for the first time in December.
"I've looked up to him for a little while now. Obviously, I knew who he was and I think he knew of me and knew who I was. So it's pretty cool to finally introduce ourselves and get to know each other."
Richards will drop into the pipe for his Olympic debut on Thursday morning after arriving to the athlete village halfway through the Games.
A rookie in the Olympic world, he admitted that his time in Livigno will be crucial for him to bank experience at the beginning of his own sporting journey.
And with the opportunity to put down his best run in front of his family on the world's biggest stage, the world is at his feet.
"Training's been going good and the half pipe is amazing," he said. "This Olympics, it's a great chance to get a lot of experience for me.
"Just getting to know what the atmosphere is going to be like and how it all works here. I just want to ski the best I can."
