How to watch the Olympic Qualifier Series Budapest

Welcome to a revolution in the way that athletes qualify for the Olympic Games.

The Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) launched last month with a first-of-its-kind multi-sport event in Shanghai, China. A total of 450 athletes across the globe, including 21 from Great Britain, competed for ranking points that drive them closer to their dream of competing at the biggest sporting event on earth.

But it doesn't end there, with athletes back in action at the second part of the series in Budapest, Hungary this week. The city where Olympic dreams will be made or broken.

What sports are in the Olympic Qualifier Series?

The inaugural OQS has an urban theme and four sports will feature: BMX freestyle, breaking, sport climbing and skateboarding. Skateboarding competitions will take place in both park and street disciplines and climbing events are separated into boulder & lead and speed.

How can athletes qualify for the Olympic Games through the Olympic Qualifier Series?

A gender-equal field of 464 athletes will compete for more than 150 quota places across Shanghai and a second OQS event in Budapest from 20-23 June. Athletes in BMX freestyle, sport climbing and breaking will compete for a maximum of 50 points at each of the events in Shanghai and Budapest, making a maximum possible total of 100 points per athlete. Points from both stops will be compiled into a ranking for each of the sports that will determine which athletes earn quota places for Paris 2024. For skateboarding, the points system is divided into three parts: results from prior competitions, Shanghai results and Budapest results. The combined points from all competitions give the final ranking.
