Heatly delivers silver as GB finish strong

James Heatly added another medal to Great Britain’s World Cup haul, capping an excellent week with silver in the men’s 3m springboard.

The European bronze medallist scored a combined 461.25 from his six dives, including 91.20 for a Forward 4 ½ Somersaults Tuck.

He briefly led after his final dive but was pipped to gold by Germany’s Martin Wolfram by just 6.5 points, while France’s Alexis Jandard took bronze.

Heatly’s teammate Dan Goodfellow, who won the 3m synchro gold with Jack Laugher earlier in the week, finished fifth.

Goodfellow looked in fine form when he topped the standings in both the preliminary and semi-final rounds but was unable to transfer that info the final.

Nevertheless, it has been a successful week for Goodfellow and for Great Britain, who bring home three gold medals in what they hope will be a pre-curser to Olympic success in three months’ time.

As well as Goodfellow and Laugher, Tom Daley won the men’s 10m platform title and the men’s 10m synchro gold alongside Matty Lee.

Lois Toulson and Eden Cheng took silver in the women’s 10m sychro, while GB secured all of the available Olympic quota spots open to them ahead of the Games.
