There was drama on the ice and in the cross-country skiing on Day 12 of Milano Cortina 2026.
Team Morrison and Team Mouat soared to crucial victories in Cortina, with a double victory over the USA.
While Andrew Musgrave and James Clugnet clinched Team GB's best-ever cross-country finish with fifth in the team sprint.
Team Morrison take the double
Team Morrison produced incredible back-to-back wins to keep their semi-final hopes alive in Cortina.
They edged out the USA before sweeping aside Japan and now lie 4-4 with just one game to go, and it is another must-win if they are to try and reach the playoffs.
"That was the proper Team Morrison out there," said Dodds.
"We have the talent of winning ugly but, tonight, that is how we like to perform. Now roll on tomorrow and embrace the experience and the noise."
Morrison’s sensational last stone kept Team GB’s curling hopes alive as they beat USA 8-7 in a thriller.
Down by one in the last end and without the all-important hammer, the women’s team needed a miracle to prevent a fifth defeat and elimination from semi-final contention.
However, Morrison delivered one of the stones of her life, a double take-out that was played off one American stone wide on the right, ricocheted across the house to push out another and settled on the button to lie two.
USA’s Tabitha Petersen had last stone and could still have secured victory but made an error under pressure, giving Team GB two points and a key victory.
Must-win for Mouat sees glory
Great Britain are on a knife-edge between curling heartbreak and the great escape - and there is nothing more they can do about it.
Just as their Olympic dreams were heading for the exit, Bruce Mouat’s rink played like the world champions they are to keep their medal hopes alive for at least another day.
They finished their round-robin campaign with the kind of confident and dominant victory they were expected to produce consistently in Cortina, dispatching the USA 9-2 in just six ends to finish with a 5-4 record from nine games.
They must now wait to hope that results against Italy and Norway for their way tomorrow morning.
“It is a horrible position to be in,” Mouat said.
“Having to watch other games and hope they go our way is not the position we wanted to be in, but so far so good.
“We need tomorrow to be the same. We will keep our fingers and our toes crossed and see what happens."
Cross country 'bromance'
Musgrave and Clugnet crossed the line for GB's best-ever finish in an Olympic cross-country race in Wednesday's team sprint event, one-upping Musgrave's own sixth place from just days ago in the individual 10km free.
Finishing in a time of 18 minutes and 36.59 seconds, they were 7.61 seconds back from gold but only 4.3 seconds off a medal, host nation Italy taking bronze.
It speaks volumes to the pair's teamwork over the years, with 29-year-old Clugnet following in the experienced Musgrave's footsteps ever since he first joined the British team at 16.
"We managed to keep energy on the first few laps and then Muzzy [Musgrave] put me in a good position for the last lap and I felt really good," said Clugnet.
"It was really nice to be able to bring GB to their best-ever result.
"I'm really proud and it's really nice to do it with Muzzy, we've been together for quite a few years and it's nice to follow him."
Musgrave jumped in: "You've known me for a few years! I see more of you than my girlfriend! It's a bit of a bromance."
