Charley Hull: A Career in Numbers

Kettering-based Charley Hull is one of Britain’s leading female golfers. The now 20-year-old first picked up a club aged two, and will bid to become golf’s first-ever gold medallist in Rio. Here are some of her key numbers:

2 Years Old

Hull first picked up a golf club at the age of two, when her golf-loving father purchased her first set.

1 Booster Seat

Hull won the British Ladies National Championship at Turnberry as a nine-year-old – but had to travel to the course sitting on a booster seat in the car because she was so small.

3 School Subjects

Hull left school at the age of 13 in order to concentrate on her dream to become a professional golfer and she studied just three school subjects while being home educated.

17 Years Old

This is the age at which Hull won her first tournament as a professional - the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco in 2014 – and also the age at which she was named in the European Team for the Solheim Cup, becoming the youngest golfer to play in the competition.

5 Time Runner Up

Hull was named LET Rookie of the Year in 2013 after recording a series of impressive results in her first year as a professional - including five second-place finishes in her first six tournaments.

1 Round

Hull always has one essential in her golf bag in addition to her clubs, balls, gloves, tees and other equipment – a round of peanut butter and jam sandwiches.

62 Best Score

Hull’s lowest score in a round as a professional was the nine-under par 62 she posted during her final round to win the Lalla Meryem Cup in 2014.
