Alistair Brownlee appointed to IOC Athletes’ Commission

Team GB triathlete Alistair Brownlee has been appointed by Thomas Bach to join the IOC’s Athlete’s Commission (AC) to help represent the athlete voice within the Olympic Movement.

Since winning his second Olympic gold medal for Team GB at Rio 2016, Brownlee has served as a member of the Athletes’ Commission of the European Olympic Committees and on the Athlete Advisory Committee of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

He now joins the IOC’s Athletes' Commission alongside three other new appointments: the USA’s Allyson Felix, Canada’s Oluseyi Smith, and Masomah Ali Zadah, who competed at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 as part of the IOC Refugee Olympic Team.

The full announcement can be found here, while more information about the Commission can be found here.

Congratulations go to Alistair on this important appointment for the BOA and for British athletes.
