World No.1 Shaw proving unstoppable in Riva del Garda

Olympic bronze medallist from Beijing 2008 Bryony Shaw has comprehensively extended her lead in the women’s RS:X fleet at the inaugural EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup event in Riva del Garda.

The 30-year-old world No.1 and world silver medallist from March proved unbeatable as she built on her two firsts and a second after the first three races to win the next three.

Shaw now leads Hei Man Hayley Victoria Chan of Hong Kong by seven points while fellow Brit Izzy Hamilton is fourth after  two thirds and a second herself from races four, five and six.

Fellow windsurfer and Olympic silver medallist from London 2012 Nick Dempsey is now up to second in the men’s RS:X fleet with teammate Elliot Carney third and Tom Squires fourth.

Finn world champion from 2010 Ed Wright is fourth while fellow Brit Andrew Mills, who won the last ISAF Sailing World Cup regatta in Hyeres, is seventh.
