June 3, 2014 09:57 am

The Hockey World Cup in The Hague takes centre stage in an action-packed week of Olympic sport; we take a look at the next six days.

England’s men’s and women’s teams are already up and running in the group stages with the top two from each progressing to the semi-finals next week.

The women won bronze four years ago in Delhi while the men are bidding to improve on an agonising fourth-place finish after defeat to the hosts the Netherlands last time out.

Tennis’ French Open comes to a conclusion also with Andy Murray progressing nicely while the Women’s European Boxing Championships wrap up in Bucharest.

A host of events kick off including the latest stages of the Women’s EuroBasket qualifiers as and the European qualifiers for the 2015 World Handball Championships.

And after the European Championships, London hosts the opening leg of the Canoe Slalom World Cup on the Olympic waters of the Lee Valley White Water Centre.

Remaining in Britain, Fort William hosts the next leg of the Mountain Bike World Cup while the Sail for Gold Regatta is ongoing at another London 2012 venue in Weymouth.

Sailing’s Laser and Radial European Championships get going in Split while the Diamond League moves to European for the Rome leg on Thursday.

British divers Jack Laugher, Chris Mears, Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow will be looking to continue their medal success at the next World Series event in Monterrey in Mexico.

And finally there the European Fencing Championships in Strasbourg, the Modern Pentathlon World Cup final in Sarasota and a rifle, pistol and shotgun World Cup in Munich.
